I go in "moods"
Light beer is just to much "rice" and makes me more thirsty.
Good rich wheat beers are far more satisfying, but I do have to watch the calories

Ice tea really kills the thirst, great for hot days, and the tea is good for me.

I haven't ever acquired the tase for beer of any wheat or otherwise. I do, however, love to tip back a cider now and then. I have a feeling that what we call "cider" here in the US can't hold a candle to what the Brits have.

I drink a cup of hot tea every morning to get me going at work. I love iced tea in the summertime.

Beer, beer, beer

If you consider not to have your food and drink travel far to reach you I will have to discard tea because it isn't produced locally around here. :-)

Like most Brits, I would soon wither and die without tea but I am down to eight cups a day now. Real ale and cider are the drink of choice for relaxation, I have half a dozen small breweries and two real cider presses within a day's walk of my house. I don't like lager at all though, give me a good IPA or light ale any day.

And room temperature only, cold beer tastes bland and makes my teeth ache

I agree, that if a beer does not taste good at room temp. it is a poor brew.
Ice cold beer is good, but not good for the digestion.
If a beer MUST be cold to taste ok, then it is usually a really bad beer.

Tea can be relaxing, I agree.
Cider is a very good for you kind of beverage.

Icetea, or tea in general..

But an occasional mead won't hurt either...

Never beer before rituals or rituals after beer or whatever.

I had to live a quarter of a century before I grew a real liking for it.
But nothing as satisfying, be it on a hot day, after a hard day's work or after a long workout (then I'll even drink non-alcoholic).
Cider gives me tooth trouble, too acidic, although I like it.

Tea, iced or hot, preferably without sugar. Lots of it, daily (waiting for iced tea to cool is too tedious though on a daily basis).
Can be Thea assamica or any herbal infusion, I've kind of gotten away from green tea though.
And may I say I jus' loooove me some southern, unsweet tea them there folks give you with free refills in Alabama. Yup.

And now for a Dutch/Somerset joke that will baffle anyone not from the UK and doesn't make much sense when written down...

Why did the Somerset man go swimming off the Netherlands with his mouth open?

Because he heard of the zuyder Zee! (Cider Sea)

I'll get me coat...

Really Badger, De Zuider Zee, we put a dike to shut that off to become a lake in 1939 or something. Oh, jeez, that poor Somerset chap...

That joke probably dates back to 1839.

Mind you, now it is closed off, I wonder how much Cider it would hold...

Have to admit I do like an occasional beer. I can't drink it like I used to in my mis spent youth though. Now I tend to appreciate a couple slowly rather than chugg ten down before I notice it. I prefer a stout or real ale in my old(er) age. I like a good cider too, we have just returned from a long weekend in Glastonbury where as well as the spiritual retreat I retreated into a few somerset ciders in the evenings as well.
As for tea it has to be hot with milk and no sugar and not strong. I like a lemon tea too now and then. I used to know an Indian gent who swore that the best thing to cool one down on a hot day was hot tea.

Bewildering to most of my German compatriots, I don't trink any coffee, but tea. Beer is not my kind, but I wouldn't want White Star to "have to admit". Cider is okay with me, as is cidre (French kind), or chistr (Breton kind). But I have to admit, I don't drink alcohol very often - most of the time it's wine. Once in three months, that is.
Icetea - isn't that like hot beer? To quench the thirst, I drink water, or juice with water (Schorle) when I want to overdo it.

I thought You meant: Is druidry like beer or icetea, because this is in Discuss druidry.

If I want need to quench my thirst or, like recently, not well enough to appreciate a beer, I have Ice Tea. Beer is for those moments when I don't need a light thrirst quenching drink.

But I'm not much of a fan of lager, which is a bit of a disadvantage in Spain, they don't know much about Sles. But thankfully I found a Catalan brand that makes British style ales, so they're cottoning on :yay:

Water, plain and cool. And I like a cup of hot Earl Grey after lunch.
(I don't take any kind of alcohol, it doesn't suit me at all.)

Oddly enough (well to a Brit anyway) they are not really British style ales, they are the traditional style ales of Europe that were supplanted by pale imitations of real Lager, the pale fizzy beers that were easier to brew, store and transport. I have friends in Portugal who are trying to revive traditional portuguese beers with a chestnut colour and a nutty, sweet taste. Even the Czech republic, that bastion of lager production, makes a very good brown ale (tastes just like Newcastle Brown), called Velkopopovitzky Kozel. I think that Britain and Ireland became famous for darker beers because we are always the last to catch on to european fashions...
