Summer Solstice in Penzance is called Golowan (Cornish for Feast of St John).

Penglaz is the local 'oss, a Night Mare, and Cassandra Latham (the local witch referred to before) is the Teazer.

Golowan is a week-long event, and the spiritual highpoint is the appearace of Penglaz - any internet search of the above names will give you lots of info.

My wife (Nikki 2) and I plan to be there.

it will be hard to miss! try the harbour area, and the public halls at the top of Market Jew Street, or ask any local trader - your hotel will probably have the finer details for this year.

you should also visit the Men an tol - great if you want to get fertile - sennen cove is beutiful - St Just probably has the most Paganny stuff going on - they almost undoubtedly some sort of ceremony going on at the Merry Maidens -do check out the Minack theatre :

and next to it is porthcurno beach which always has lovely blue turquoise water even on a stormy day. They say Cornwalls liek a Christmas stocking - all the nuts fall to the bottom - check the eden project out as well :

I didnt realise how old this thread was. Yes I love Cornwall too - its kind of my second home - theres not so much work though - which is why there so many hippies there
