SOS! Oregano first aid!

Hi everybody I really hope some you can offer me some help!

When I was doing the gwersi about earth I aquired an Oregano plant to kind of get that earthy vibe into my home and my energies and its been working fantastic!

However disaster has hit!

I went to my moms house for 4 days and left my Oregano plant in the hands of my not so green thumbed hubby. Needles to say after 4 days of direct sunlight, 35 degrees celcius and no water my poor Oregan plant was quite battred.

I've been watering in for the last couple of days and has stopped the accident so to speak
The majority of the leaves are dead and I reckon about 75% of the stilks aswell. Hower the other 25% of the stilks has been setting a few new leaves.

So can any one offer some advise on how i can help it back to its former glory? Im quite attached to it so im ready to put in the time and effort

l thought about takeing away the dead leaves and stilks but i dont know if its better to leave them?

I really appreciate any help/experience you guys can offer

Hi Astrid,
Sorry to hear about your plant! Oregano naturally likes plenty of sunshine and only really needs watering in periods of drought, which seems to be what happened to your poor plant by accident. If you were harvesting the leaves naturally you would cut the stalks to about 6 inches give them a water and then let them get on with putting out new shoots. They don't need feeding in fact growing better without fertilizer, so If I were you I would harvest all the stalks and leaves to 6 inches from the compost and see what happens, but don't overwater in your enthousiasm to nurse it back to health and make sure they get the sunshine that they love. ( You could also give it a good talking to encouraging it to grow )

Hi Astrid,

For nursing plants back to health, repotting plants, planting trees or just when you want a lot of flowers on your plants wich stay beautiful for a long time : put some drops of Bach Flower Rescue Remedie to the water for watering. I've seen amazing results with this.
It's also good to send healing toughts and energy to the plant.

Last winter, I had oregano, thyme and rosemary in a threefold pot, which I stored in the staircase (unheated, very cold). I thought the oregano hadn't survived at the beginning of said winter, so I didn't care to water it, but watered the rosemary and the thyme. At the end of the winter, the oregano was the only to have survived at all, and now its growing and growing! They're quite tough, aren't they?
