Hello! i have recently disovered Quilting, and of course looked on this forum to see if anything was occuring! I love the photos on here, I had an idea to make an Ogham quilt as part of the ovate grade, so to see yours on here is fabulous! What happened with this project? Would love to see the end result, as its a year on!

And if it hasn't been abandoned, can people still join in? Or will another quilt be made in the future?

People have done some very nice work, as well :)

Perhaps life got in the way, it does happen sometimes.
We could still do a quilt if maybe someone-else wanted to co-ordinate the venture? I would volunteer, but I just do not have the time right now (and my sewing skills need some work :)
I still have the fabric that I made the quilt square out of for the project and could make another one.
I think it would be a worthwhile project, if someone wants to take it on.

I'd be happy to make a square, and to organize the project, but I'm not sure my quilting skills would be good enough to put everything together. But perhaps we could restart the project by finding out if we have at least 9 people who'd be willing to pledge for a square; it seems there might be, from the posts.

For simplicity's sake, we can call my pledge #1. Interested? Pledge a square through this posting, and assign yourself a consecutive number...

I have sent Brianna an email just to see if she still wants to be involved with this project.
If not , I would be happy to make a square and put them together, I'm not sure about the quilting of them but I may be able to get my sister in law to do it - she's a whizz with quilting.
So thats pledge #3 and sewing together.

I'm happy to make another square as I've got fabric left over from before.
So that would make me pledge #4

I have had a reply from Brianna and she is very sorry that she won't be able to continue with the project. She asked me to pass on her apologies to everyone.
She still has the 3 squares that were sent to her. I think they are Aurora's , Silverleaf-Willow's and mine so we won't have to make another the same! Maybe a different one....?
Anyway, that should be 4 squares so far, any more?

I think I can manage a square :) I just got my first tiny taste of quilting with a project with my mother in law, a big deviation from my typical clothing design hobby.

What are the dimensions you're thinking of for the squares?

Pledge #... 8? Not sure what number that puts us up to lol

I think I have a design. I will sketch it in more detail today and tomorrow, and scan it in. Its a little different than the two that were posted a while ago. It will be applique, I think. A new adventure for me!

We haven't talked about square sizes yet - just trying to get 9 people for a 3x3 quilt.

Peace,

When we first began this project, the squares were 12" x 12".
Seems a good size, especially if we can get Brianna to send the three squares to the person who will be putting the quilt together.

Ok, 12x12 was what I'd sort of hoped if it was only a 3x3 quilt.

If it wouldn't spoil the surprise, may we post themes or designs?

Making the next Druid Quilt - still looking for volunteers

Postby cec235 » 20 Aug 2010, 06:41

Hi, I don't know that surprise is involved - so feel free to post ideas. I don't think we have enough squares yet. Since I volunteered to try and organize the project, how about if I post my off-forum email and those who are interested can email me... cec235@hotmail.com

I'll try to put together a running list of volunteers and look into the previous post of someone who said they might know someone who can piece it.

Hi guys just got back from an extended trip so have only just got caught up with this thread:

in regards to themes: when we started this last time it was druidry and nature, but i'm happy to do something on a different theme too :D as my last one was kinda dark but that reflected the time of year i made it, so having the chance to make something brighter will be nice :)

12 by 12 inches is 30 by 30cms. Ideal size to put some nice work into it.

I'll make a square too, if needed. If the quilt is also going to be a calendar, perhaps we could assign months to each square too. I bags December... LOL. If you only have nine you could do the festivals I suppose (including the nameless days to make it nine)

It could always be scanned square by square for the calendar, and digitally stitched together to show the world. I've never quilted before, but always wanted to try. I've done fabric collages before though. I guess we are sending a square collage picture, unpadded and ready to be padded and quilted ,as a whole, later?
