wow, another fungus fan! :yay: that's great! mine are ink caps are they? i don't know much about them, keep meaning to, but right now, i just like photographing them. we get something like your first one here. that second one, how beautiful - great photo, too. :applause: and the third. delightful!
here's some more of mine. the first one has the torso and head of an elf-like being, made out of bits of leaf, i think. cute, eh?

Yep I'm a fungi freak love photographing them got to get a good editing program though as i'm having trouble reducing the file size.
I spend a lot of time wandering aroung in the woods.
Identfying them can be a pain though, normaly spend ages sat with several books trying to work it out.

I love all the uses and supstitions that surround fungi as well as all the intresting common names. Oh and I like eating some of them ! Though I only eat the one i'm 110% sure of.

love the photos keep them coming.

Good fungi hunting!

great stuff. i've got windows 7 with microsoft office, and i just use the software that comes with my pictures.

you right click on any picture, and go down to 'open in microsoft office picture manager.
when you get there, you can make the toolbar appear on the right by clicking on 'edit pictures' on the toolbar just above the picture.
then, in the right hand tools, right down the bottom is 'compress pictures'. click on that and choose 'web pages' and then click okay.

the picture will shrink in size, but it's okay for message boards. if you want to keep the original unchanged, you can save the compressed image under a new name, and then when you close microsoft office picture manager, when it says 'there are changes that have not been saved. do you want to save them?' click no. that way you get both. the picture you renamed will be in alphabetical or numerical order in your gallery, not necessarily next to the original.

it sure makes uploading quicker.

They are really so beautiful, both of you. :cloud9: Thank you for sharing!! I may try to capture some of ours - they won't be any good technically, but we get some beautiful fungi here. :)

More, please! :applause:

the final result is about seven inches across and after a year or so, it fell off and a new one grew in its place. it wasn't as big as the first one, or as interestingly shaped, but still good. it's the only one of its kind i've ever seen on our farm, though i search for them now and then.

Cool =)

The top and bottom ones were in a pine wood in Scotland near Loch Leven, and the middle one was at my favourite haunt in Oxfordshire (that actually was tiny, only about an inch across but the light shining through it caught my eye)

yes, that's an exquisite photograph that middle one of yours. it's raining here at last after several years of drought, so there are a lot of new fungi i haven't photographed yet coming on. and lichens too - i'll wait till the rain stops and then sneak up on 'em!

i was going to try to restrain myself, but couldn't resist this one, which i found near rotting branches under the pepper tree this morning. there were dozens of them. i've never seen these before. they must have been introduced with the pea straw we spread as a mulch last summer. the largest is about three inches long. they have a rubbery appearance and texture, so perhaps they're not fungi, but some kind of algae or similar?
