Mankind is doomed says Hawking

In another topic I detected the pessimistic, depressing and brute truth spoken by a modern day scientist:

So, my fellow druids: Man Your spaceship arks - depletion of Earth cannot be stopped. And think of the "array of new threats"!

A customised space station, obviously. Will You have space-dragons on it, or faery-astronauts?
You do sell land on Mars? I thought life there would be different - without land to be owned, sold or bought.

When building Your space-station: Do You use solar technology or any other sustainable energy? One might think that, now Hawkings has stated the unchangeable depletion of Earth, you won't have to economise, any more. Just burn your resources and off we go!

It's fiction but it could easily happen. The destruction of the Earth's ecosystem has already begun. The evidence is all around us. We can only hope humanity will wake up before it is too late. There are more valuable things than money.

Very true, and distressing that the ideas we have and have had for decades are neglected and still not put into use.

Ideas are neglected because they affect people's comfort - for nothing.

Mankind invents new ways to cheat death - population expands - mother nature evolves new diseases to kill him (or his domestic animals) off.

The best hope for the planet would be if mankind died off, unfortunately. Does mother nature love us more than the rest of creation, or should we be afraid she will recognise the fact no matter how we are loved, eventually? Will we reincarnate into the next intelligent species to arise after the planet recovers, I wonder? Will we be dung beetles until that time, or in limbo?

I don't think space travel will come in time to save the human race. More chance of inventing cross dimensional travel folding time and space, going back in time to tell our ancestors to be wiser, or of aliens rescuing us. In other words, we've no chance. I'm not depressed. The planet will last longer without us, and no battle is worthless because it's already lost - think of your karma.

As far as I'm concerned, I did a test some time ago and will come into limbo. I don't know about Your way of live, whether You behave Yourself or not, but, well I'd welcome You in limbo, of course. Most of our fellow humans, methinks, wouldn't make it into the next intelligent species. But, I dunno if I for myself could do it.

If You read up on Greek tragedy, or the myths about Tantalus, You would know that there's no way to cheat death - or Death, that is. But, "when bargaining with her, every year can make a difference."
