Faery Bread

Postby Ki No Ronin » 25 Jun 2004, 00:09

Here is a recipe my Mentor Rev Angel-San posted on her studygroup message board. It sounds good too. If anyone tries it and finds it good, please let me know.

Faery Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup honey
1 Tablespoon dried Lavender Flowers
1/8 cup Unsweetened Instant 100% Tea
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

1. PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
2. COMBINE flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and ginger in small
bowl. Beat milk, honey, Instant tea, vegetable oil, egg and vanilla
extract in large bowl until tea is dissolved. Gradually stir in
flour mixture until moistened. Gently turn in Lavender Flowers.
Pour into prepared pan.
3. BAKE for 45 to 60 minutes or until wooden pick is inserted in
center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes;
remove from pan to wire rack to cool completely.
Makes 1 loaf.

No, it means something about cans and worms. I guess you never heard of the 3x3 triads of The Masterless Samurai of the Trees?
Never mind, I'll just sit back and enjoy .

Thanks for posting that tasty recipe Ki No Ronin,

I made some of this for my Alban Hefin celebration. I added some raisins & almonds to the mix. I like my sweet breads to have little goodies added (i.e. walnuts, raisins & chocolate chips in my banana bread). I'm going to check out more recipes that use honey instead of sugar. Sometimes awen hits when you're not looking.

Yours under suburban trees,

Lavender Cookies
One half cup of margarine. 2 eggs. 1 teaspoon of lavender buds. 1 cup sugar. One half teaspoon of vanilla. 1 and a half cups of unbleached flour. 2 teaspoons of baking powder. A pinch of salt. Mix. Drop by spoonfulls on ungreased sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
At first these taste odd, but then you find yourself craving them. So much so, that I have purchased lavender plants and have begun to harvest my own. I look forward to trying the fairy bread. I also have a Bumbleberry Lavender Upside Down Cake Recipe is anyone is interested. :) Patty

Uh, question or two.

Since this is posted under the healing boards...what health or healing use does it have?
Um, and I read over the thread twice...yet I'm still clueless to what Instant Tea is...

"misfit"

I think most of us feel that way. As time goes by, I embrace it rather than be embarrassed by it.

(Welcome to the Board, btw)

has anyone tried the faery bread? I'm not much into baking; I think the name sold me on it. :gloomy: Not actually gloomy: literally raining in NW Germany the day this was posted.

Instant tea is one of my staple items, that and cheese. Seriously! laugh. It comes in a jar. The day it stops being available I may whither away. Yes I drink regular leaf tea, too. But that's not the point. Instant tea! :yay:
