Hi, I'm new here, few questions...

Postby spiritsword » 26 Oct 2010, 07:23

Hey, how's everyone doing? I'm a 21 yr old dude from Australia...I'm currently a Christian and have just discovered this little thing called Druidry ;) I've done a bit of research and I love what Druidry seems to stand for, especially in regards to connecting with nature...I see that it is compatible with every religion and I would like to become a "Christian Druid" but I have no idea where to begin, how to initiate myself into Druidry whilst keeping my Christian faith at the same time and all of that. Can anyone give me some info? Or give me access to the Christian Druids part of the forum? I believe Jesus's spirituality was primal, mystical and earthy and this resonates with me-I would love to explore this side of myself. I have Celtic ancestry so this seems, on the surface, to be a natural path for me to follow but like I said-Where to begin??? Any info or advice you can give me is much appreciated...Cheers and may peace be with you all.

Also, I should add that whichever spiritual path I decide to take I intend to take it seriously and make a lifelong commitment to it, just so you know. I've been doing a lot of reading lately on different paths and "Christian Druid" seems to resonate the most with me. Thanks again.

I do not see any conflict in being a druid and a Christian. We each walk are own path.
Blessing and light on your journey.

Yeah, I see no problem with it either, the problem is that I don't know how to "become" a Druid...Perhaps I should join the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids? Would you recommend this if I want to become a Christian Druid?

I am on my path to Christian Druiddom. My recommendation for you is to find a good organization to join and take a druid study course in. OBOD and NOD are both good. Learn the history and mythology of the Celts and ancient druids and above all keep God and mother nature at the center of all you to. Though I have only been taking the NOD course for 6 weeks I have had no trouble fitting God into my druidic studies. I am learning that druidism can teach you a lot about yourself. In fact it will change you.

Hello! At the OBOD homepage http://druidry.org/ there is an article about Christianity & Druidry. (The link to the article is on the left side of the main page). In that article there's a lot of useful links, too. I think there are many ways initiating oneself into Druidry, there is not just one way. Some people decide they want to join to an organization and take a Druidry course, some study on their own. I do not see any conflict in being a Christian Druid, and I have understood this is how OBOD teaches it, too.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know how I can gain access to the Christian Druid forum?

Hi Seeker,

OBOD was founded by a Christian Druid. You are in the right place then.

You need to contact one of the mods, they will grant you access.
