So you're a Druid eh?

OK.... not sure what this thread is about anymore.

It appeared at first that it was leveled at people who called themselves Druids with less than five years of training...then it switched that anyone could be enlightened and be a lightwalker....then I think it switched again to history not being important and that living in the moment was the crux....

I'll let this thread meander on its own after this.....

Druids needed 20 years supposedly in a time when an organized higher education was essentially unheard of. Druids disappeared between 350 A.D.and 500 A.D. as anything more than a boogeyman for nervous Christians (see Council of Troyes). Druids were also much more than simple priests worried about esoteric and religious ideals and projects, they were the elite of the educated world in every single facet of human achievement.

Modern education system takes 12 years and can go longer than that. What an 18 year old has access to and retains even a portion of is astronomically more than even 50 years ago. Couple this with the internet and the information overload that we suffer from now and even 5 years is a lot to someone who is truly dedicated to learning.

I joined this board to discuss and learn from other people who wanted to share.
This thread is anything but a learning discussion... it is a few words mumbled without any scrap to continue upon.

I feel that with enough study anyone can attain the level of maturity and knowledge where the title of 'Druid' is not only appropriate but earned as well.

The true measure of a Druid lies in their ability and desire to pass on that knowledge while inspiring the other person to continue to search for knowledge after the conversation ends.

Lets begin another thread perhaps and talk about how we can get others to stop bickering and start working together to unlock the secrets of the past, and the future. More importantly tying the past into the present day in which we find ourselves struggling to unlock our abilities as human beings in this magnificent world of ours.

Five years can be a lot, and when I was into my 5th year, I had done a lot of reading and such and put in a lot of work, but I realized that I did not know a whole lot at all once I started talking to people who had been on this path longer than I. Now, I'm in my 20th year of dedicated study as a Druid and I realize that I will always have a lot to learn! Training for a Druid in the modern day does not seem to end at 5 years, 15, 20 or even 50 years. It's not always about taking a course (or lots of courses!), it's not a race and it's not about who has more years under their belt. It's about what's been learned and how open one is to continually learning. It's an ongoing process for me. I'm not sure how it is for anyone else, but that's my take on my own study.

There's an old saying that says "The more I learn, the less I know". Ain't that the truth!

Excellent idea! How do you propose to stop the bickering and start working together to achieve this goal? What are the objectives you have set forth to ensure this can happen? Have you got a plan? Are there steps we can take toward achieving this goal?

Are you willing to take the lead on this issue that has been prevalent in the community for a long time? Druids are not only teachers but leaders as well.

I ask these questions because I often see similar suggestions on various fora (usually about the bickering or the fact that no one seems to be Druidic enough, etc.), followed by a call to action ("Let's do _______.")... and then nothing happens.

Chances are you've already started the thread, so I will go and look for it! If I haven't found it by the end of the day, could you please provide this old blind bitty (me) with a link? I get lost very easily (as the people in my grove can testify!).
