America is covered with ghost towns, abandoned villages or native campgrounds and ancient campsites. I love visiting these old places and paying homage to the ancestors there. Libraries, histories and museums are the best places to find sources for these sites.
I'll usually take my metal detector as well. I ask permission from the spirits of the place if it's ok for me to search the grounds for things to donate to museums or to return to their ancestors as a way to remember them and their memory. Most of the time I get permission, but sometimes I run across an old hermit's cabin who's spirit appreciates the sentiment, but just wants to be left in peace.
You may not be able to outrun Death, but you can sure make the Bastard work for it!
