New OBOD video on YouTube

Postby Selene » 18 Jan 2011, 22:48

For any who haven't seen the latest OBOD newsletter, I wanted to share this news about a new "Introduction to OBOD" video that's now available through YouTube:

Philip wrote:Last year we asked ourselves the question: Would it be possible to capture on film some of the magic that we experience as members of a Druid group? I wasn’t sure we could do it, but an old friend and film-maker, Kevin Redpath, came along to our summer solstice celebration in Glastonbury and then to our Lughnasadh camp near the White Horse in July, and he has created an 8 minute film that I think really does capture the essence of what we are about. Have a look and see what you think! A big thank you to Kevin and all those who participated in the film – it makes me feel so proud to be associated with such fantastic people!

So please take a look, everyone, and share with anyone who'd be interested!

So wonderful to see this - and the opening piece especially at Wayland Smithy, I love that place! Fabulous shots of the trek up Glastonbury Tor brought back happy memories, too. Great stuff - also especially liked where people said why they were druids, all very natural. Well done.

Excellent! Thanks for posting this... :hiya:

That was very inspiring for someone who's yet to meet anyone face-to-face. I'm really looking forward to making the trek to Dryade in June. :) Thank you! (Both for making and posting!)

I really enjoyed watching this as I haven't been able to come to any OBOD camp thus far. Very inspiring!

An excellent clip. Having only recently discovered or rather re-discovered the religious roots of my ancestors (Welsh), I felt very much at ease observing the various participants involved in circle work and other earth-centered spiritual activites. Haven't had the opportunity or any personal contact with other Druids in my part of the world (Saskatchewan Canada), but nonetheless, connect very meaningfully with this video clip in general and OBOD in particular.

Blessings,

I recently posted something about this video in the introductions thread, because I didn't know there was a seperate thread for the video, so i would like to post what I said on the intro thread here as well.....

I was not prepared for this video to have such a profound impact on me. It made me cry. You see, I have been a practicing Pagan for nearly 10 years now, but moved away from my Pagan comminuty in Tampa, Florida to near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA three years ago. Since I moved I have had two more children, bringing the total to four. I havent really had time to search out and meet the Pagan community where I live now, as my youngest is only seven months old. Over the past month or so , I have really been missing the wonderful feelings of that go along with gathering with others of like mind, weather it is for just Coffee, or for Ritual. I have been missing the Pagan Band I used to sing in, and the weekly Tuesday practices, because every time I sang, it was a very deep spiritual expierence for me.

This video brought all those feelings to a head, and I let it all out while I was watching it. It is truly a beautiful video, and captures, for me, the things I used to feel, see and do with others. Now, where druidry comes along with all this is that I have been a Damh the Bard fan for years, and the words and beauty of his songs inspired me to look into druidry back in 2005. I eventually joined ADF because it was a US based druid group, and had a vast amount of groves around the country. After 2 years with them, and only getting about halfway through the initiate program, I realized ADF, while a great group, was not for me. I became interested in joining OBOD, and going through the Bardic course, but have sat on that interest for several years.

I recieved a link to the OBOD video via Damh the Bard's facebook page, and after watching that video, and having it touch me on such a deep level, I just knew it was the right time to join OBOD, so this week I signed up, and am waiting to recieve my bardic course in the mail.

I know I may not find and Groves or Seed Groups close by, but I have a feeling my longing to return to the pagan Community will be answered this year, and I will find the time to be able to get out and gather with other Pagans & Druids again (as I know not all Druids are Pagan).

I would like to thank those that had a hand in making the video for serving as part of my Inspiration for joining OBOD

I am very glad to be here and look forward to the journey I am about to embark on....

You're in luck, Kelly—the 2011 OBOD East Coast Gathering will again be held in Pennsylvania this coming September! Sometime soon you should get a flyer with the information about it in one of your monthly packets.

And welcome to the board and to the Order--I hope you enjoy both!

Blessings,
Selene

Hi Kelly, Sue, and any other East Coast Druids on the thread! :hiya: I, too, hope to be able to attend the East Coast Gathering this fall. And if I do, looking forward to meeting my fellow Druids in this region!

Verdant blessings from the heart of the Greenwood,
