Ita, this is a good thread.

My son came to me today. I am extremely glad. I am still feeling very new in the country - Germany, and even with over 4 years of experience still find that living rather more by myself bothers me a great deal ...My son is 14 years old and he's to live with me half of the time...Both his father and I want full custody but we also want to share our son with one another so, since we don't still live in the same home, it is rather like this.

It was nice to have my son choose to come to me, his mother. He showed me how to use multiple tabs on the computer. He had told me that he does this, but now I know precisely how to do it myself. This comes from both including him and letting him share his knowledge with me.

It is nice to be here on the Message Board. I learned a tremendous amount about druidry living in England in the 90s but never joined an Order until I moved...I moved "back" to the USA but I moved to a part of the country that I had never lived in before, so in that respect there was nothing "moving back" about it...last month I moved to Germany...I did the Bardic Course in Indiana.

Anyways, that's some of what I've learned today...Is to reunite with the forums here...I feel good about being closer to England...maybe because that's where i got pregnant and had the baby...

I've recently learned something which has long been known; almost like a cliche' now, but me being sometimes dense have just fully realised that; ' what we're looking for is frequently to be found in those places we least expect to find them, or a place so obvious that we forgot to look'.

I am learning that as time goes by I appreciate a druidic view of life more and more. I came not knowing where each next step would be as I tried to find a form of spirituality that would seem right after leaving the church. I came, and dipped my toe in the edge, I sat and waited to see what would happen. I let the idea - very foreign at first - slowly seep into my head and heart, my mind and spirit. Not so foreign. It echoes and rebounds and echoes again with a sort of comfortable familiarity - like a home-coming to something not known since infancy, ideas that were never properly formed, hints and innuendoes that pull on the spirit and whisper in the subconscious. Here, I find space to be that is open wide with acceptance of such variety, joyful non-judgmental attitudes, abundant love of life, rhythm in the seasons, home.

Today I learned (or rather was reminded!) that thought pervades time & space, and that thinking about someone I haven't seen or heard from for over 3 years can provoke a sudden unexpected email from them!! :yay:

I learned that participating in a demonstration of Iron Age bloom smelting techniques is really fun, but also really bad for asthmatics. :-(

I can blame my sisters for making me feel awful and let the darkness eat me alive or I can take responsibility for my actions. :gloomy: I am in control of what I think and what I do. I will continue on my path to enlightenment because that is what I choose to do.
Doing this for myself does not make me a bad person. Standing up for myself does not make me a bad person. However, letting myself get caught up in a quagmire of crap and then blaming my sisters for my inability to get motivated does not speak very highly of my character.
I was letting the negativity get in the way of my spiritual work, and that I can't blame on anybody but myself. :idea:
Peace to all!

I have learnt today that..

Things that try to look like things, often look more like things than things.

To quote Terry Pratchett for a second..
'do or do not - there is no try.'

Hey, Julia, I've had a similar realization today (only, it's not about sisters in my case)

I have, finally, truly seen how much I depend on other people for my happiness and well-being and have understood that, if I actually want to be happy and well-off I need to do it for myself, not let others run my life, then complain what a mess it is.

Today I "searched" for someone on facebook. I last saw him about 12 years ago. . . . . the funeral was posted on his facebook page . . . . he was buried last Saturday!
different from helenoftheways story - but kind of related.

I guess I learnt that "Time and tide waits for no man!" :candle:

Today I learned that if you're doing a community ritual for an eclectic community, you'd better have good explanations for why you do things the way you do, and that sometimes, for me, I can often feel something is the right way, but can't always explain it.

Today I learnt some wisdom . . . posted on facebook . . . . :)

By three methods we may learn wisdom:
First, by reflection, which is noblest;
Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

Today I learned that January 1 is not a good birthday, no matter how catchy a date it may seem, nor if the local media comes to film the New Year's baby.

that whilst you are congratulating yourself for finally having "re-visited" the last of all that cr*p from the past . . . . there's still more that you had forgotten about! :-|

Today (well, actually, it was Saturday, but I didn't remember this thread then) I learned that Elizabeth Gilbert was right: you don't really know a person until you try to divorce them. Luckily, I found out my soon-to-be-ex is a better person than I had thought him to be. So I also learned that divorce can be negotiated in a nice, friendly, civilized way.

today i learned (or at least was reminded) that if you ask, as an honest seeker, the universe will answer.
wow!
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Wonderful idea for a post.

Today I learned that if you do not slow down long enough to enjoy life that it will simply flutter by. We rush, rush, rush, work, work, work... and before you know it we are so caught up in our daily routine that we have lost all sight for peace. Just simple peace.

I'd say I stopped to smell a rose today, however, there is six inches of snow outside so I sniffed a nice, warm, cup of hot cocoa instead. :gulp:
