Sorry this is so huge. I do not know how to resize. Technology confounds me at times. I am thinking of making a bunch of these and sending them off with Operation Circle Care. http://www.circlesanctuary.org/ministries/military/operationcirclecare.html

that's a great idea. very nice.

in windows, you can compress and resize photos by right clicking the icon, click open with microsoft office picture manager, and on the toolbar, click edit pictures. a sidebar will appear on the right. right down the bottom of the sidebar, you'll see 'compress pictures'. click on that, and the sidebar content changes. you'll see the words: 'compress for' and four options. check the 'web pages' option and click okay. this contracts the picture and reduces the resolution. if this is okay with you, just click save, and then post your picture.

but if you want to keep a high resolution photo as well as post a low res version of it, open 'file'up in the top lh corner, click save as, and give it a new name in the save dialogue box that opens. then, when you close the picture manager, you'll be asked if you want to save the changes (to the original). click no, and that will ensure that you also retain the uncompressed original for other purposes.

Wyeuro - Thanks for the tutorial. I'll definitely resize any pics I upload in the future. I was shocked at how large it was!

Aurora - I used double crochet for the yellow and single around the outside. I made the star with chain stitches. For my British hooker friends, I think that would be trebles with doubles around the outside.

Jeffrey - Thanks! I'll have to call up my Dad and see if he would let me use his video camera. I think I may try to write up a pattern, but a video will show the weaving of the arms of the star. It's pretty easy, but the un-worked yarn gets a bit tangled up in the weaving.

I had the idea to do this, because I don't have a lot of money, and I wanted to donate something to the Pagan soldiers overseas. This is small and flexible, so they'll be able to stuff it in a pocket, if they want to. It's also acrylic yarn, so it's extremely easy care.
