Theif

Postby grayjk » 10 Mar 2011, 07:17

You call me a theif,
If I take a cookie,
Which my mother has made,
But not given to me.

You call me a theif,
If I download a movie,
Which a studio has made,
But not given to me.

You call it industry,
If you cut down a tree,
Which Nature has made,
But has not given you.

You call it manifest destiny,
If you claim land as your own,
Which Nature has made,
But has not given you.

You call it sport,
If you trap helpless small creatures for fur,
Which Nature has made,
But has not given you.

You call it necessary,
When you pillage, pollute, and steal that
Which God has made,
But has not given you.

So I'll take my crimes.
I'm proud of them.
At least,
I can live with them.
Because
I know I couldn't
Live
With yours.

Thoughts? And i'm up for constructive criticisms too.

Pray to something
We can't see or touch,
Than you, our god." --Soil by Serj Tankian

I like it, good drive very direct and the sincerity shines through.
(it's thief not theif BTW)

well-made poem, good hard-hitting logic, solid impact. :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:
can it become a protest song?
