The tree of Good and Evil

Postby Kima » 14 Apr 2011, 19:30

you gave me the seed of what is right and wrong
but I planted the tree of knowledge
and with pride and trepidation watched it grow
until its forked branches patterned the sky
until it carved incantations deep into its tissue

I alone know the bitter taste of its fruits
how they grow on the tongue with languor
how they burn my mouth with sweetness
and draw my truth into shameless light

I have eaten and I have Known
suddenly I have seen
the secret writings that hide within the tree
split by frost, swollen by heat
I have seen their purpose
I have eaten and I have known

I suffered in order to know and
knowledge brought more suffering
yet I eat and eat more fruits
at the risk of being sick
for this tree has recreated
the very stuff of life

a Name within my reach.

"I suffered in order to know..." That really stood out for me. loved your poem. :)
The trees reach out as silent witnesses always willing to listen to your troubled heart. Nature offers her ears to anyone who speaks into the omnipotant silence. There are places that wait for you. You are loved....you are wanted....you are cared for. You are not alone.....you are not alone.....you have never been alone.
