Three sticks of Ogham

Postby wolf560 » 04 Mar 2011, 15:59

Three sticks are drawn into the light
...drawn one at a time with your second sight

One for the Past that’s not quite gone
...still in the shadows yet lingering on

One for the Here and Now between
...part of the past only partly not seen

One for the thing that longs to be
...partially hidden from all that we see

Three sticks are drawn into the light
...returned to the darkness and hidden from sight

This is my chant as I use the Ogham sticks, thought you might like to see it
.
The Druids wrote nothing down, and memorized everything...

Thank you...

It was both a mnemonic and a bit of Teinm Laida... "understanding through chanting or poem".
Many of my students liked to have simple things to either help remember what they were doing or to lose themselves in as they tried to concentrate on the augury at work.

I could definatley get lost in this. Very rhythmic...almost hypnotic. Love the way it flows.
The trees reach out as silent witnesses always willing to listen to your troubled heart. Nature offers her ears to anyone who speaks into the omnipotant silence. There are places that wait for you. You are loved....you are wanted....you are cared for. You are not alone.....you are not alone.....you have never been alone.

Thanks..!!

They were a reminder for my students of what to concentrate upon with each stick

That included putting them away again at the conclusion of the reading (LOL).

note; this was my Eisteddfod Barddic contribution as well this season... thought I would put it in there as well...
