Keepers of the Trees

Postby Huathe » 22 Sep 2010, 07:02

All,

Last spring, Ann Linnea released a book titled " Keepers of the Trees, A Guide to re-greening North America " It features 14 people who have done an outstanding job of promoting forest preservation and green practices. Three of these I have met personally, including Ann herself. One, Will Blozan lives only a few miles from me and we converse and share " woods time " fairly often. I have also spent forest time with Robert Van Pelt on three occaisions. The last in Congaree National Park SC back in Feb 2009. Both Will and Robert are members of ENTS along with Myself and quite a number of others.

On May 23, 2010 I went to a book signing with Will Blozan at his home in Black Mountain NC. It was there I met the author Ann Linnea. It was a pleasant experience.

Here are the people featured in the book.

Andy Lipkiss: "The Tree Man of Los Angeles "
Merve Wilkinson: "The Steward of Wildwood "
Laura Robin: "The Tree Pruner "
Bud Pearson: "The Man who Turns Wood "
Kris Johnson: "The Tree Doctor "
Will Blozan: "The Arborist and Big Tree Hunter "
Shannon Ramsay: "The Community Organizer "
Corella Payne: "The Weekend Treekeeper "
Glenn Canon: "The Businessman who Loves Trees "
Dr. John Hendee: " The Wilderness Researcher "
Dr. Robert Van Pelt: "The Man called Mr. Tree "
Cass Turnbull: "The Activist Pruner of Emerald City "
Russell Beebe: "The Native Carver "
Ann Linnea: "The Botanist Grandmother "

Both Druid and ENT alike should love this book, in fact anyone who loves the natural world. These people could speak for all of us " Keepers of the Trees "

Hey James! It's Ryan (rddl1990) from the ENTS BBS. It must be quite an honor to have met Will and Bob.

Ryan,

Welcome to the OBOD forum!

Meeting Will has always been a rewarding experience and BVP, he's a walking storehouse of " treeish " knowledge. I am overdue to spend more woods time with Mr. Blozan.

Yeah, I don't know much about Will's work (except the Tsuga Project), but I have Bob's book "Forest Giants of the The Pacific Coast."

Thank you for the welcome, hopefully we'll have some good talks!

Ryan,

I have an autographed copy of Bob's book " Forest Giants of the Pacific Coast. I got it from Bob during the ENTS expedition to Congaree National park in Feb 2009. Bob is always great to be around. He is very knowldgeable and friendly and he can really cook!
