I have a very small collection of Tillandsia (airplants) and for some reason I find them quite fascinating. Whilst visitng a local Spring flower show recently I actually found a stand that sold nothing but airplants and the people on the stand were most helpful and only to happy to talk about the care of airplants - found out why some of mine haven't survived in the past along the lines of correct watering and feeding. Having purchased a couple to add to my collection, imagine my surprise when on visiting the companies website to get some Tillandsia fertilizer that they didn't have at the show, there on the front page was a picture of Tillandsia Ionantha Druid. Couldn't resist could I and my little plant arrived this morning and it is in flower
Hopefully mine will grow as follows in the months to come and it goes without saying that all Druids are very special :
This clone of Tillandsia ionantha 'Druid' is very special. It is like the normal clone in that it blushes a peach color instead of red and it has white flowers instead of purple when it blooms. But, it grows much larger (up to 10 CM) and offsets prolifically. It's one of the best species to grow into a clump hanging on a wire. A great form of Tillandsia ionantha.
