I've been interested in natural medicine and herbs for a long time and have always turned towards natural remedies for common ailments. I always read about wise herbalists in fantasy novels and wished that I could be there apprenticing with them. It's always been something that I have looked to as a far off dream, something that I could never attain. But recently I have been doing some research into herbalism and finding that it's not as far out as I had thought. I will be the first to admit that I currently know next to nothing about herbs or their medicinal properties, but I feel like this is something within me that I need to nurture. I've been thinking about trying to grow or harvest some herbs as that would provide the most hands on learning experience, but I have no idea where to start. And I live on the third floor of an apartment building!
Are there any certified or otherwise experienced herbalists out there that could lend me some advice or insight into this field? I know many of you practice this sort of thing in your daily lives, growing and using herbs medicinally, and that would be wonderful input as well!
