A set of poems I hear whenever I close my eyes

Postby Tarot » 16 Jun 2011, 04:00

(Sorry, I posted this in the wrong spot originally :oops: )

I hear a voice whisper, in a voice so clear, that when I close my eyes, I wonder who all can hear, but these poems are not my own, and yet are all I've ever known....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weave me a crown of Ash, Oak, and Thorn,
Bring me the flame from which gods were born,
Dance in the forest where faeries abide,
Sing to the Earth a lullaby
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bring me the cauldron from whence poems are formed,
Bring me the storm from which I was born,
Take me to the Holy well,
Whisper a word,
A song,
A spell.
Bring me a Shadow from Light's Domain,
Show me the future once again

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a thousand songs,
The Awen abides, forever creating,
Never will die,
Largest ember of the flame of One,
Forever your father,
Forever his son
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

‎3 requests I have of thee,
Each of which involves a tree,
First the Oak,
A crown you must make,
Second the staff of Ash to take,
Thirdly I ask of the Thorn wood ring,
Bring me these three and forever I'll sing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Child of earth,
Listen to me,
You still feel the magic,
Within the tree,
You know well,
What haunts these darkest halls,
Yet have no fear,
When the night falls
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Owls are wise. They are careful and patient. Wisdom precludes boldness. That is why owls make poor heroes.”

“It was the same scolding any child receives. Stay out of the neighbor’s garden. Don’t tease the Bentons’ shepp. Don’t play tag among the thousand spinning knives of your people’s sacred tree.”

“We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That’s as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.”

“It’s the questions we can’t answer that teach us the most.”

“Metal rusts, music lasts forever.”

“We all become what we pretend to be.”

“You do not know the first note of the music that moves me.”

Each are quotes from either "The Name of the Wind" or "Wise Man's Fear", both by Patrick Rothfuss

Thank you, though I won't take credit for them ;)
