Prior to administering anything, homeopathic or conventional to anyone's diet, pets especially, we feel that personal health history must be considered, and a medical professional should be consulted. There are many instances where even the most "harmless" additive has had contraindications and caused more harm than good. We believe everyone here is responsible and understands that, but it is important to re-state. This is a public forum, viewable by guests as well as members, and is cataloged by most search engines.

It's OK, Deepwater, I've found the College of Healing pages now, thank you! :) I am a bit phased by the statement there that "holistic healing includes conventional medicine" though. While I'll admit that there are more conventional doctors now who embrace the idea of practising 'holistically', conventional orthodox medicine is notoriously not holistic!

I would like to try & contribute, so I'll email Fitheach.

Hi there,

the "college" is not a physical school, and there will be no dedicated course for it in your gwersi. you have a pm to explain.
bright blessed days, dark sacred nights

Hi Tessa,

I am a "conventional doctor" but am still maintainig - despite other comments - a holistic view. GPs like me have to admit that there sometimes are other more effective "alternative methods". That makes me very eager to learn about those other successful ways of healing.

Well, I'll try to leave the mobile turned off and walk across nature. Indeed, I had a very good experience recently when I stood out in rain and became soaked but felt better.
Thanks for your advice.

I am just started to learn about herbs and the healing properties. Any advice on which links, websites or books or practical know how would be most appricitated.

So far I have Coltsfoot, Fennel, Mugwort and St Johns Wort hanging up and some in dry format. What I want to be able to do is to harvest my own herbs and hang them to dry, but my kitchen is very cold. Any ideas?

You should put them in paper sacks and shake them a few times a day to rotate the material if you use the oven you will cook off a lot of the actual medicine.

If your concerned about allegies you can put some sap on some tender skin areas and see what happens in 2 or 3 days,,Chaga grows on birch trees as well so if she dosent have any redness from a sap smear maybe Chaga tea would help as well,,, You can tap a birch tree just like a suggar maple and cook off the water in the sap to thicken,, dont use heat for a rolling boil ,, but a good simmer along the edges of the pot

I don't know any cures, but I have the same problem. A preventive measure she can take is to drink pure cranberry juice daily. Cranberry caps work too. You can get them at a natural medicine store.

Taking capsules with turmeric or goldenseal gives a general protection against infections. As mentioned: Cranberryjuice helps good with acute infections, but less with chronic ones. Chaga is nice too as a general healer/tonicum.

If she's serious about her health though, even if she doesn't want to go to a allopathic doctor, she should not solely rely on a friend getting internet advise for her but seek out a herbal healer herself, or start studieing it herself. Taking responsibility for your own health doesn't end with the refusal of antibiotics. You might also want to be a bit cautious in advising her, if you don't have the knowlegde yourself to double-check any advise given here against her specific medical background. I'm not saying this to be condecending, but natural medicine as an institution might get harmed if to many people "dabble" in it, not generating results or even harming folks, further widening the path for big pharma to claim that natural healers are all quacks...
