A Rewrite of the 23rd Psalm

One Light united with everything that exists
Is within me, guiding me
Life and breath are among its gifts
It reveals to me an endless sea
The waters are peace and stillness
The waters are love and kindness

When I am asked to depart
To leave behind the shores of this life
The Light shall go before me
Radiant joy by day
Soothing release by night

Wisdom that seeks to fulfill life
In every conceivable way
Shall never depart from my heart
I shall abide
In the love that creates
The earth and the sky
It resonates in my voice
And shines from my eyes

And here is the 23rd Psalm itself.



The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
