Hi there,
I stumbled on this challenge on the internet that I find myself returning to andI am thinking of taking on at some point in the near future.
The challenge is to wear only six items of clothes that you already own for an entire month. Some items are excluded from the challenge like underwear, outerwear (coats!), accessories, shoes, work uniforms and anything that you would wear for exercise (but only in that specific context). Also for laundry purposes you can wear multiples of the same item (like two identical white t-shirts or pairs of blue jeans).
Apparently this started as an informal challenge between friends and soon caught on worldwide. People joined for various reasons and got very similar lessons from the challenge.
I guess at this point I am mostly curious. I like limitation as a starting point for creativity and I lean to not wanting to have too many clothes anyway. Although I do donate clothes to good causes on a fairly regular basis, I also own clothes that I have had for over five years. I very gradually shift into fashion, if it stays in style long enough, I eventually end up buying it too. My wardrobe has gone from green and brown to black and grey and then to purple and blue and now it seems I am getting back into the greens and reds again. Hmmmmm ......
I now find myself looking for ways to thrift clothes on the internet rather than buying every item new in the stores; it's amazing what you can find once you get the hang of it.
All in all I am very curious. Has any of you taken part in the Six Items challenge or would you be interested in doing so in the near future. What items would you choose and what would be your motivation for doing so.
Els
