The tree of contemplative practices

This Forum is dedicated to the Druidic search for the underlying meaning of life, the unifying nature of our common humanity, and our interconnectedness in the search for truth.
Forum rules
This forum is dedicated to the quest of our common humanity, especially in the exploration of the underlying commonalities of the human condition, the similarities between faith systems and philosophies, and the Druidic search for all that unifies rather than divides. This is a public forum, viewable by guests as well as members, and is cataloged by most search engines.

The term "Common Quest" does not mean that ultimately there is one faith system, or one lowest common denominator. It means that we are all trying to do the same thing: find the meaning of our existence in this common humanity that we share.

One rule for discussions here: Honor One Another.

Thanks for that Lily. We must be thinking along the same lines. I have had this idea germinating today for multi-faith/peace centres dotted here and there. These would be dedicated buildings which honour every spiritual path and have icons/images asscociated with every path, from Pagan to Muslim to Christian ect. But in these buildings there would be dedicated prayer/medtiation areas and rooms for classes/lectures for everyone and the sharing information. They would be open to all groups to use for teaching and sharing their spiriuality with everyone.
Peace centres instead of churches.

Hereabouts there are "rooms of silence" - nondenominational spaces for contemplation.

"Rooms of Silence" I like that even better. You could have sacred space open areas attached as well.
They could become focus points within communities, with counsellors and spiritual advisors available, and rooms could be hired out for various support groups such as AA and drug abusers.
Has anybody got a spare building?
