Elfed Waka
Liquid golden eve
-nings are gone. White misty morn,
that autumnal shrive -
fogs glasses with dewy tears
for grasshopper days, gold years.
Most dear is fire to the sons of men,
most sweet the sight of the sun;
good is health if one can but keep it,
and to live a life without shame. (Havamal 68)

This is a photo of my impromptu altar for the solo Beltane ceremony (which took place in a corner of my bedroom). I like adapting the OBOD rituals to our locality so the altar had a very Asian flavor. I found that my Hindu murtis perfectly represent the theme of the season which is creation and union of the male and female. On the left side is Kali, Durga and the cup representing Shakti, the female force. While on the right side is a Shiva-lingam, the oak wand, and some stones to represent the male force. At the center is my painting of a 'mermaid' representing union (unfortunately it is obscured in this photo) and a bunch of flowers representing the fruit of this union.
