And I'd like to make something with but I'm fresh out of ideas. I did use several lengths braided into a stronger cord to hang some windchimes in my bedroom window but am now out of ideas. Any thoughts?
How about bracelets, belts, plant hangers - there are loads of macrame patterns on the web with instructions on how to do the basic knots if you dont already know them. Or crochet or knitted bags?
Nothing's forgotten......nothing is ever forgotten
I use hemp string for loads of things - whipping on rattles and beaters, jewelry making, tying hazel poles together for my stall. You could use it for making braid, there are lots of ways of making braid (lucette, a plaiting circle with notches and a hole in the centre just for starters).
It's the strongest string we have found for bullroarers, more useful than any other string I have, it's rot resistant and I can't think of a day I don't need it for something!
Macrame is an excellent idea if you have extra hemp on hand; I'm always running out! You can make some beautiful jewellry with metals and mineral beads, but you can also find patterns for wallhangings and such if you like. Happy knotting!
