Beware the Moon

Postby Romelia » 08 Dec 2011, 18:10

Beware the adders strike
me love
mind the apple tree,
listen oft to the ravens croak
beware of the moon at sea.
The moon it may look pretty
a jewel set
silver pure,
but
she pulls and swells
those currents
love
where you may
soon lay to dwell.
Maidens come and go
they do,
a princess easy pleased,
but
the goddess will need appeasing
love
when
mortally she bleeds

She'll cast you
with all her
fury
to
the
depths
of darkest hell,
lock you
in
your nightmares
with
no mercy to be found.

But defend a loyal heart
she will
through
every fault and fall,
hold you above all others
and
bestow
a crown
upon
your brow.
But
beware the adders strike
me love
beware that sweet apple tree,
the goddess
be just as treacherous
as
the cruel unruly sea.

I have just read this and your other poem, 'Twilight Groves' and I just want to say thank you for posting these because they have made me see where I go wrong in my own works: I get so caught up in explaining a single image that I don't move on quickly enough to keep the pace and potency that you have found in these. Invaluable! :tiphat:
--Although I try to thoroughly check my work, hilarious and non-sensical typos may result in longer posts due to a shoddy laptop keyboard--

--Chase the numinous. --
