How can I get the Bard and Ovate avatars beside my signature? I already have a profile avatar but some people have their grade symbols incoorporated into their messages. Anyone able to help please?

Heulwen (and any others who may be wondering),

The message board, while under the auspices of OBOD, is not connected to the office's database so we don't know who's studying what unless the members tell us. So just signing up for the message board won't get you access to the OBOD members' areas until you write and ask for it, verifying your eligibility with a quote from a gwers of your grade (see viewtopic.php?f=247&t=30632). Once you're in, you'll find the codes for the grade Awens in the OBOD General Discussion forum, which will be visible to you once you're added to the Ovate (or any other OBOD grade) group, and the "OBOD Ovate" designation will be added under your avatar (unless you request that it not be shown).

Hi Bracken, Please could you find out why the access is blocked on the forum for The Druid-Christian Path. The reason I am asking is a friend of mine is having a crisis of faith and is at odds with her church (Christian) She has expressed a wish to follow her Christian Faith but outside the restraints of the established church. She also knows that I am following a Druid/Pagan spirituality. I have said that I would help her but I don't want to influence her in anyway. When I found this section in the forum I thought this would give me some idea how other Christians viewed their doctrine combined with druidry but alas I was not permitted to view any of the comments, which would be rather off putting for anyone else seeking answers. It felt like this part of the forum had a KEEP OUT sign attached to it. Am I being a little over sensitive?? As my friend is not an OBOD member she will not be able to access this forum either, thus sadly leaving her out in the cold! Metaphorically speaking of course.

Hi, Angela.
It is simply a part of the forum that you have to ask for access to. I think it was made that way by request of its members.
If you would like access I can sign you in, and the same goes for your friend.
There are a few fora like that here. It's a good policy, I think, for a number of reasons.

Should I make you a member of the Druid-Christian forum?

Angela, your friend can join the message board and request access to that forum, too. Anyone can use the message board, whether they're OBOD members or not.
