"An awakening"

Postby MaitiumacFaolchu » 16 Mar 2012, 19:09

I wrote this one about two years ago, just recently discovered it again and I want to share it. It's about waking up in the spiritual sense, finding ones path, or direction in life. Many thanks in advance.

As a low rumbling in the distance, the coming of a tide
a shift in the air, an inclination of change
like a taste that was always known, but never felt
as something stirring, an awareness awakened

Like a smell long forgotten, lingering still
a whisper without a sound, familiar and safe
like a feeling hidden deep within, gasping for air
as eyes start to see, hands begin to reach

Is it sheer madness, or clarity taking form?
living anew, trembling, shaking with fear
a steady eye across the fire, a shoulder to rest upon
like a gentle smile, a feeling of home

As the crow keeps watch, secrets unfold
like questions long unanswered, a breach
as a bolt of lightning, a sense of calm
like the coming of spring, an ensuring feeling of hope

As it seems to have been written, it all becomes clear
like something predicted, long ago in ancient times
as something known since birth, slowly taking form
like a feeling of release, becoming one with the world
