Yes I did Steven. Scary isn't it! I hope folks are being careful out there. Cover up, spray DEET on your clothes to deter them from hitching a lift, don't brush under or by bushes, and check yourselves carefully afterwards. If you get a tick, take it off as soon as possible, using tweezers on the head as close to the surface of your skin as you can. Don't squeeze the body or burn it or otherwise aggravate it as that causes them to regurgitate into you (ewww!) and can increase the chances of getting the bacteria that causes lyme. This is not an infection you want to get!

Sooner or later they are going to admit there is lyme here. I have no idea why they haven't already. Makes me start to believe some of the conspiracy theorists might be right!

Hi All...

Another in the hills of Perth saying hallo.

Due to moving house I probably wont make the meet at the Mundaring Weir Tavern, but hopefully next time.

My wife and i were handfasted and married under the huge old Oak nearby the weir in Fred Jacoby park. I love it there in Winter and Spring when the water is running through the park and everything has a shade of green.

I'm sorry the date doesn't work well for you. We're hoping to make it a semi-regular get together, so once we know where everyone is coming from we can make it more central. Maybe next time you can make it. Actually so far we have quite a few hills people. I'm not surprised the hills have an attraction for the Druids. It is so beautiful up here and our trees are so special.

Do you know, I've lived in Mundaring for more than twenty years and never knew about that oak tree! We're going to go visit it tomorrow! Maybe next time if the weather is nice we can meet there instead. We're not fussy or wanting to control things, we just wanted to start something if there was anything to start.

We went to see it and got a little video to try and capture the scope of it. It certainly is a magnificent tree and seems very healthy and full of life. Its energy was very good, so can see why Buddhist monks would like to go meditate by it.

Goodness knows what they've been doing in the park there, as it is all dug up and then replaced with large areas of bare gravelly soil with only the odd scrubby weed to break it up. I'm sure they are 'improving' the park somehow. :P Pretty sure it is all going to 'improve' itself down into the creek the first time it rains heavily!

A picnic sounds lovely but yes wait till maybe some grass grows over all the bare areas, if it can, as looks very subsoil-y and empty of nutrients to me. You do have to wonder who manages these things don't you!

Would love to come see Spiral Dance but that sort of thing is outside our endurance levels these days. It is so frustrating.

They have been working on and off in the park for a few years now, at one point is was fully closed, shame it's all dug up, it's been a while since we've been...

They are doing some sort of huge engineering job up the hill and across the road from Jacoby park. A water treatment plant. I don't remember it looking that big on the plans when they first got community input on where to put it! It's ginormous! Bit of a shock to the system actually. That used to be a really pretty hill with old weather board houses left over from the pipeline days, tucked into lots of well grown local and european trees. All gone!

Sorry I couldn't get to the meet, it was such a chaotic weekend with moving home and having to have our other house ready for the sale a few days after. I have only got back online today, finally, hence the late post. I hope it happens again as it would be great to meet other Druid folk i have yet to meet in Perth.

Hi Ecstaticearth, sorry we missed it, I haven't been back here to check for posts in a while as not much was happening. We might come along and listen outside first. Some healing sounds actually make us feel cruddy. I think our lyme bugs don't like some of them! Guess that means they are working, but you don't want to kill too many bugs at once or you get sicker.

Hi JodiBS, I am not aware of any groups that get together to celebrate festivals at this time. I was tossing up on having folks here for a midwinter bonfire (we have one put together on our three acres all ready to go) but since we have never experienced a group ritual we don't feel confident to do one so would be more of a bonfire and soup get together. With Klandaxa having a new bubba on the way and other members being far away or with little kiddlies, not sure it will get off the ground. Sad I know but it is hard to get momentum here with so few numbers and so widespread.

I hope everyone is enjoying the autumn weather. Seems ages since anyone but us perthites posted in here. Maybe we chased them away!

well the fact is you sandgropers are all talking your heads off and no one else can get a word in edge-wise! seriously though, it's great that you do considering how distant you are from the rest of us so that as a group, so we don't lose sight of you and cinderellaize you more than you already are. but there are a lot of us talking together and making group plans on facebook now, at Druids Down Under, which is julie mills' brilliant idea. love to see you there!
