Clara Efrona wrote:Hi to all! Thank you so much for this forum! What a great way to connect. I'm not sure I can get through all 76 pages of introductions, wow!
I wanted to say something clever as so many others have done on this thread, but I can't really think of anything, so I'll just be honest. I went through the dregs of hell in my youth, and then after many years of deep feeling (primal) I was left with a clean slate. It seemed like I was just wondering around knowing and seeing all the neurosis out there in the world, but I didn't know how to use this wisdom or how to create new healthy pathways now that the old unhealthy ones were no longer present. Then I found a book at the library called Druid Magic by Sutton and Mann. Opening the book I read that "druid magic works according to nature... and that it observes nature, dances and works with it, rather than attempting to do things out of the natural order or things", I decided to check it out. After finishing the book, I bought a copy then started my online searching. That's how I ended up here!
I'm still new to druidry, but so far it has proven to be the ore that helps steer my boat along the river to where I want my life to go... avoiding rocks (or not avoiding them if that's what I choose!).
I have yet to find other Druids in my area, but I'm hopeful.
I'm also enjoying the DruidCast podcast... listening to the archives too.
Nice to meet all of you wonderful, wonderful people.

and best wishes for your journey.kslovesbooks wrote:Hi, everyone -- I'm Karen, 32, and a college librarian in Colorado. It's lovely to be here. Unlike a number of people I've seen here, I only became aware of modern druidism a year or so ago. A number of my friends out here practice various pagan faiths. I grew up Protestant, tried to be vaguely Buddhist, found myself unable to "detach"...and then my friends out here helped me put things together. This movement really is like coming home.
I love books, travel, writing letters, hiking, and a lot more. Back to the letters ... if one or two newbies -- or others -- would like to keep in touch by letter and talk about how things are going, that would be quite nice. Just message me! Hope to get to know many of you over time.

I discovered OBOD a few months ago, and feel like I've finally found something that I've been looking for all my life. I ordered the Bardic grade course yesterday and can't wait for my first package.
I am Norwegian (24 years old), but ever since I was around twelve or thirteen I have felt an intensely strong pull towards the Celtic countries, and specifically Ireland. I have absolutely no Celtic blood in my veins, but that doesn't stop me from feeling a connection with Ireland that is even stronger than my Norwegian nationality. Along with my love for Ireland came an obsession with Celtic culture and the Celtic languages, which drove me to study the Irish language (and also Welsh) and Celtic Civilization at the University of Oslo. I have also been to Ireland four times, and each time it is like coming home. I strongly believe that I must have been Irish in one or more previous lives, but I can remember nothing.
Joining OBOD for me is another step towards finding my true self. I have already been on the path for almost a year, ever since my very dear friend who is a Celtic Pagan introduced me to a more spiritual and magical way of life, and proved to me that many of the things that I have wished and longed for all my life are not only the stuff of fairy tales.
I am so eager to finally start this course, as I feel I have searched for all my life for something like this, but never truly realized it until now.
While I am waiting for my first packet to arrive, I am perusing the threads of this forum, and just wanted to say hi to you all and thank you for, well, just for being here, really![]()
and welcome to the OBOD Board!
Best Wishes and much happiness to you on your journey.
