This is a picture I took this week end. I showed a giant swallow hole to my wife for her birthday, and to "close" our earth study of the bardic grade. It's called "Aven d'Orgnac", and it's in Ardèche, France. It's is said that it's the biggest and most impressive cave in Europe.
We were walking with a guide, 120 m under the surface, watching silently those massive stalactites and stalagmites while he exlpained there origins. Mother Earth has still some treasures to show us...
This is one of the last columns, and it's still in activity. We couldn't approch this one. The guide told us than distances are very easily distorted under earth, and this one measured in fact several dozen meters high ! To give you an idea, the little rock behind the column which seems to say hello is 100 m from us...
