I am a new OBOD Bard based in Western Australia..just wondering if there is a group that is open to new members that celebrates the festivals etc? I am in the Pinjarra area at present ,

Greetings Jodi...

There is the Gaelic Druid Order - http://www.gaelicdruidorder.org/ - who have a grove here in Perth, when I was a part of the Order, many years ago it seems now, they had associate membership where you were invited to the fire and solar fesitvals - these included a ritual followed by a feast, much mead, and bardic sharing in the ritual space.

If you get involved in the 'pagan scene' here in Perth there are oportunities to receive invites to various festivals, but these come from various pagan groups, rather than just Druid groups.

I have a good friend who is now running a Druidcraft nemeton here in Perth and they will have a Winter Solstice which is just a great experience. We gather and each bring a lantern, then we go for a walk through their property as the story of the winter solstice is told, we stop to light all the candles on the oak tree and continue on to the circle space where we light the bale fire and our lanterns from it. Then we move into the 'feasting hall' where we decorate the solstice tree, share solstice gifts, and have a shared feast and much merriment. It is now my favourite festival to take part in. I will contact you privately with her contact details if you are interested.

I am hoping to start a group in the future to celebrate the festivals etc, also to practise group Druid meditation.

I lived and went to highschool in Pinjarra.

Peace,
Pete

Latest SerpentStar is finally up! (went up yesterday, having some technical difficulties!). http://serpentstar.wordpress.com

This is my final edition of SerpentStar, and fabulous Wy is taking back the reins, as I need to spend time with my growing family. x

:yay: you've done a difficult job well, lady a. :applause: thanks so much for being there when you were needed. brightest blessings for your future as a mama.

as returning editor, i'm excited to be back on the job. while i'm here i might as well spruick up some interest.

southern hemispherites, SerpentStar is your magazine. :old: it brings us together, keeps us informed, |-) reaches out to the isolated ones and solitaries, :hiya: and helps us get to know each other :shake: and the many and varied yet truly druidic paths we walk, :ghug: the things we all share, :) the unique things each of us brings. to be completely successful, SerpentStar needs plenty of reader input, :where: especially from seed groups or other druid groups who meet now and then and would like to advertise their next meeting and tell us about their latest ones, and from people engaging in interesting activities that might interest bards, ovates and druids, such as conservation projects, animal protection, inter-cultural projects - whatever you think might be relevant. we want photos, links to videos, blogs, websites etc, artwork, photography, and snippets of interest, as well as keeping up the poems, articles and reports that have always been our mainstay - provided nothing is under copyright not your own, of course.

the email address to send them to is wyverne@gmail.com

ss waits with baited breath...

Congrats Lady A, it's a great read! Best of luck with your new little druid to be!

Good on you for taking back the job, Wyeuro! I'll put my thinking cap on and see if I can come up with something to write about.

Hugs,

Bronzie

Greetings brothers and sisters. I have been somwhat preoccupied of late: new house and new DAUGHTER! My daughter, Evelyn, was born this time last week and, at a tad under 7 pounds, a healthy specimen. Now that she has arrived and I am slowly settling into my new home (which is much closer to my physical grove) I will become a little more active on the forum in the coming months. Until then...peace to all living spirits...

I'm still thinking Wyeuro.

I wondered abou that "more time to post" bit and have been trying to puzzle out how that can possibly be in the same post as announcing a new babe! Congrats indeed, Klandaxa! Enjoy every moment of her growing. :shake:

Well thank you, Michael!!

As you can see we've all been so busy with our respective celebrations :gulp: , withdrawals :henge: , advances :fence: and so forth that no-one has even popped in to see this wonderfully large writ message of yours. I think we've been too busy gazing enviously at Trudy's pics of her trip to the UK that she's posted on Facebook. Hope your Alban Hefin was truly blessed.

Druid's Picnic

Postby ecstaticearth » 15 Aug 2012, 05:40

As the warmer weather arrives I would like to organise a Druid's picnic, for those on the path of Druidry as well as interested or like-minded others, over here in Perth.

If you are interested please send me a message or email me through my website and I can keep you updated.

Peace,
Pete /|\

Thanks Pete, I've done so.

Hope all are well here. Have been having a bit of a druidy hiatus as my poor lymie brain isn't coping with meditating just now. My guides must despair of me when I'm in there. I jump around like a squirrel one second then drift off like a lovelorn teenager the next. I thought Merlin was going to end up swatting me with his staff if I kept it up. :P
