Question for Ovates

Postby Dragon » 20 Sep 2012, 13:18

How do you actually use your Ovate skills in daily life if at all?

Well part of ovate work is healing, as I get older everything starts to creak and groan a little bit more.
It means I use tinctures, oils and herbs that much more. My Ovate work has helped me deal with those minor ailments and niggles rather than going to a Dr or just being plain grumpy.
So currently I've been elf-shot, or a muscular injury, in the left shoulder. I know what to do; morning put on 'deep heat' (which is chilli oil based) to warm it for a days work, in the evening ice it to help the healing process overnight and regular yoga/stretching. That with time and not over exerting it....

My kids know where to get eucalyptus / olbas oil from my herbal drawer when they've got a cold and I made a herbal tea last year to kick out the remnants of a virus that had been with me over the summer.
Most dear is fire to the sons of men,
most sweet the sight of the sun;
good is health if one can but keep it,
and to live a life without shame. (Havamal 68)

It changes the way you look at the world. It changes how you see. It changes who you are. And all of that is your daily life.

Quite simply, it becomes your daily life. It's not just the skills that you learn along the path, but a whole new way of 'being' in the world.
