Letting go

Postby hawk » 23 Sep 2012, 14:12

Hi all, this is not strictly health related but could do with feeling that there is some OBODie support floating towards me in the ether - I have finally decided to let go of my current career (herbalist), after over a decade battling to make it my path I have finally accepted that it is not, that it actually only formed part of my ovate journey. It is a painful but necessary separation, and will bring better things into my life in time, but any supportive thoughts at this emotionally wobbly time would be gratefully received. :???:

I just want to say well done. I hope it feels like a weight off your shoulders. I've been following your journey with this on facebook, and it sounds like you're well out of it. All the best for the future, hawk. xxx

As much as it can hurt to let go of a path that isn't ours, its necessary, and good! You'll be moving onto something that is for you, and it leaves the path open for someone whom it truly belongs to. Besides, I imagine all those years as a herbalist brought some awesome knowledge and experience. That will always be with you. :)

For you--

Holy Ones (whatever YOU deem divine) this we pray
Keep me safe throughout the day
I'll learn new things and make new friends
and come home safe
when my day ends

So be it

Blessings to you on your decision to move one. I recently retired from my day job and was astounded at how much of my identity was wrapped up in it (and I couldn't wait to get out of there). Now I'm back in "wonder what I'll be when I grow up mode." :) I have discovered that it is very liberating to be able to free oneself from something that was comforting in its familiarity, but at the same time not the right thing to be doing anymore. Best of luck!

I am truly grateful for your post as I have been in a long process (3.5 years to date) of cutting many past ties that seemed to be lifelong dreams manifested and lived as commitments for so long it felt like letting parts of me die to accept these are no longer who I am. Sometimes I'm not sure how much of me is even left, or perhaps how much of "knowing myself" I really ever had  and in some cases it has cost me the acceptance/company of people or groups with whom I no longer have the connection that brought us together. It can hurt to feel alienated while trying to be true to my spiritual pilgrimage, but it is the way it is and I continue to follow the way as it unfolds tho I really don't understand where I'm going any more

Anyway, for the days when I think perhaps I am misguided if not nuts, it is very reassuring to hear that there are others who don't choose the easiest path of continuing to do/pretend to be something that they realise is no longer true to their heart. Thanks :)
