Hidden Britain type - ' Unofficial Countryside' , ' the Z To Z of Great Britain' , 'Discovering Green Lanes'
Modern novels with floods in them-type - ' The Book Of Dave' , 'Intrusion'
Steampunk (i know it's a daft term) type - ' The Light Ages' , 'The House Of Storms'
Urban Shamanism .
Books like Hyddenworld maybe.
And something EPIC - like the Dark Tower books by Stephen King

on Shamanism, have you read Micheal Drake, I think its called shamanic drumming; calling the spirits home. Its part instruction part biography and I found it a very pleasant read.
