I am new to Druidry in the sense of having a name for it and structured ritual, but my experiences as a Druid go back to my earliest memories of childhood. This is a Homecoming for me to be able to find and join a community of fellow travelers. <3

Hi,I am Tony from England.
Just signed up to start the Bardic course today.I did start the course over 10 years ago but had to stop due to moving around a lot, work, family problems and illness at the time.About a year ago I obtained some sample material relating to the new course which I liked, but found I could not enrol as I had lost my job, just could not afford it.Since then I found work and enough spare cash to continue.

I still have all my old Gwers from the first time round and it's still surprising just how much I learned from them still talks to me after all these years.Often when I least expect it.

Again I stand on the edge of a cliff, and at a crossroads in my life. How many times have I done that only to turn around and go back the way I came or found the way blocked by one thing or another. This time I intend to jump into the unknown to find a new path and keep going.Something which I should of done all those years ago.

I won't keep you all reading any longer so many blessings to everybody.

Now where did I put that cup of tea?

Greetings everyone. I'm Liz, I'm 52, and since 2009 I've been blessed to live in Pembrokeshire, Wales UK, although I was a Londoner for 30 years before that.
I spent a lot of my childhood in East Anglia living on farms, and in caravan parks, my folks were travellers, working the funfairs, and picking crops, so we moved about a lot back in the 60's.
Didn't get much of an education in formal subjects, my school was the great outdoors. :)
Although I did go to colleges to learn practical stuff later on in life as a mature student.

I've been Pagan pretty much all my life, following my family tradition of the old ways, grew up absolutely loving nature, especially horses, dogs, birds, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers and bats,
found I love spending time in forests or on beaches, absolutely adore folklore and things like 'Obby Oss, Maypoles, Mummers Plays, Morris Dancers, and all that kind of thing,
grew to love Stonehenge, Avebury and all the sacred sites, my nearest now is Pentre Ifan and Ty Canol woods and I go there whenever I get the chance. I also love the local castles.

I'm VERY into music - can't go a day without it (self taught in keyboards, xylophones & glockenspiels, zither, accordian, various percussion instruments, and I'm learning to play a harp)
I dabble mildly in Poetry and other creative writing, I do a lot of Art & Crafts (made my living making and selling things - mostly beaded embroideries) I love Astronomy, (I've belonged to the Preseli Astronomy Group for about 2 years now and have my own modest telescope) and Dowsing (I hope to join the West Wales Dowsing Society in 2013 having been a visitor now and again over the last couple of months), and reading Tarot (I've been collecting sets for 20 years).

In 1980 I married into a family where Spiritualism, faith healing, psychometry and more Eastern ways were followed, and it took me on a different journey for a while.

I'm very civic-minded, and serve on the local Civic Society management group, I get involved with planning applications to the local authority and all that, trying to protect things from the ravages of over-development, and I'm about to start volunteering for some of their projects like the forming of a new museum in the area, and the restoration of some derelict properties with grant funding which is all very exciting. I might not be of Welsh birth, but I am honoured to be getting more involved in Welsh life!

I also do a lot of work supporting families with special educational children after my own 2 lads were born with problems, and found the service provisions sadly lacking. I served on the boards of charities and other organsiations for a while, now I offer support and advice on-line.

I found myself drawn to the path of Druid in a more "fixed" kind of way a couple of years back after meeting some Druid folk at the Swansea Pagan Moot, although so far my studies have been self motivated under no particular leadership as I wanted to "taste" what was on offer before going down one specific path. I was accepted into the Reformed Druids of Gaia in August 2012, and joined the New Order of Druids shortly after that, both of which I can only inter-act with so far on-line, :x but I recently attended the Blessing of the Mistletoe Festival in Tenbury Wells UK, followed by the Damh The Bard gig all of which I totally loved, in fact, I'm still "buzzing" off the energies of it now, all these days on... and I can't wait to go to more events and meet up with other folks of the same beliefs.

Glad to have found this forum, looking forward to getting to know everyone a bit better! Wishing everyone love and peace.

Liz xx

Hello!

I've just received my intro pack for the Bardic course this morning, just in time for the New Year, so I wanted to quickly introduce myself! I'm a librarian working for Cambridge University (UK) where I also did a degree in Theology, with an emphasis on the psychology of religion. I'm an ex-Catholic turned atheist who came to Druidry as a way of developing a spiritual way of life and philosophy that is compatible with science and reason and also honours the natural world. I'm a bit nervous starting out on this journey, but I'm sure it will be an interesting experience! I'm also married to 'cryptic_raven' who is doing the Bardic course with me.

I look forward to discussing the path with you!

All good wishes,

Treeshrew

If you aren't nervous about taking your first steps, you're not taking it seriously. So you're doing fine :shake:

There are several active posters you will find that have a similar viewpoint, and this is a discussion board, so feel free to start a discussion.

Welcome and blessings.
May the long time sun shine upon you,
All love surround you,
And the pure light within you,
Guide your way on.

Greetings to you from the hearth of my home,

I am Michael, I am 45 years old and live in Maryland, U.S. I am new to this path but have a long number of years working in the hermetic traditions.

I have always held and affinity for the divine in nature and am finally taking the steps to bring that to my every day life with OBOD. I am looking for an area to plant a grove actively in my area and may have a friend willing to sell me two acres of land at a relatively low cost so long as I maintain it and build a play ground for children on a small piece of the land.

May the Hidden Light shine upon your Sacred Groves,

Postby AlderAries » 02 Jan 2013, 18:00

Descendant of Irish and Welsh (I believe) families, I've always had an affinity for people with soul, or showed to be 'salt of the earth'. Born into the Catholic life, slowly dissolved relationship with the church, but always a connection to things of nature. Curious about my true roots, however, little connection to ancestry as my elder relatives have passed with no connection to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Living in a Canadian province of largely Scottish descendants, really miss my 20 yrs in Newfoundland.

Read a book when I was 7 or 8 called "The Druid" or "Druid". Was entranced by the connectivity this person had with people, but with nature foremost. I feel energized whenever I am in nature. Have picked up several books on the origins of the Druids, and what they are about. However, feel that there is more to the story than what I am about to read.

Currently not affiliated with a common belief system, though believe in the power of nature and community. Just seeking to understand my place.
