Greeting one and all.
My name is Michael and i am a Californian currently living in exile in Tennessee. I was drawn to druidry initially as an academic exercise. Now I'm at the point where I want a more spiritual experience. I have become disillusioned with "Big Religion" and am looking for something more personal. I have ordered the introductory packet from OBOD and am looking forward beginning a new journey.

:old: Good day Friends, Brothers, and Sisters. I hope this day has found you well. I go by many names, my true Name is Benjamin nine times out of ten if you were to Google one of my quotes or sayings you will come up with Billythemadhatter. A friend once asked me what I she should call me, I told her, Billy shortly there after another friend felt the need to call me the Mad hatter in a sarcastic tone. I felt it only fitting to change my Facebook user name to Billythemadhatter. I was named Darian some time ago by a Druid. At the moment I am 32 years of age, I live in Bismarck North Dakota. I look forward to campfire stories and many travels to come. I bid you all a very, very many fond evenings.

Hi Everybody!

My name is Michael. I have been initiated into my grove for around five months now, but have been attending circles for around a year and four months. I am 26, I live in the England, the West Midlands.

Raised Church of England, but quickly found the path wasn't mine. I stopped celebrating Christmas, and basically all Christian Holidays, but as soon as I found paganism, it fitted like a glove.

So here I am, in OBOD, at the Bardic level. I am actually happy at this level. I have always enjoyed stories. When I was younger, I always enjoyed singing also. I have come back to singing with my grove, and am working hard at increasing the amount of songs I can do off the top of my head. I started with two, that I knew from my younger days, but am now at about ten songs, two chants.

Regards, Michael.

Hello, I am called Oona and live in Long Island, NY. I have just joined the Bardic Grade and also work with ADF. I'm not really familiar with message boards but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I see there are few OBOD groups in New York. Any one wishing to study the runes with our ADF protogrove is welcome - see us on facebook "Paumanok Island Protogrove ADF." And of course our rituals are open. Enough of a plug, just responding to an old post I saw here asking for anyone in NY NY. I'm really looking forward on getting into OBOD and hope to make it to a camp someday. Bright Blessings!

Hello Oona :hiya: and welcome to the board :D In the members forums there is a Groves and Seedgroups section in which you can look about or post for fellow NYers, or you can just post a thread in the Hearthfire if you wish. :D

All the best,
Michael :tiphat:

Postby Sharnie » 20 Feb 2013, 16:57

Hi my name is Sharnie, I am 19 years old and I live in Sussex, England and am at university here too. I have been interested in the history of Britain, its languages, ancient sites and the pagan religion for quite some time. It began with my grandmother and aunt who live in north Wales now, and are both involved in tarot cards (my aunt completed a course for tarot), runes, crystals, and spirits. I was curious, and I occasionally find interesting information, and get in the mood to research more deeply. I have several books on crystals, wicca, general witchcraft and magic as a whole in Britain, given to me from them and because people knew i was interested. So of course I have heard lots of things about OBOD and only now how decided to look into it. So here I am! :)

Postby Ulchabhán » 20 Feb 2013, 18:50

Hello all, my name is Christopher. I was born and bred and continue to live in West Sussex. I found Druidry last year, and have since joined OBOD and am thoroughly enjoying the Bardic grade. I'm a member of a Unitarian church and see Druidry as a my personal philosophy and a central source of my spirituality. I love stories, poetry, folk-music and local Sussex and Irish folklore. As a rural person I love the old country ways and the pace of life lived in close proximity to the land as the wheel of the year turns. My family come from that rain-soaked, misty, rural, 'Celtic' Northwest corner of the Iberian peninsula: Galicia, and I love to sit with my 97 year old granddad hearing the tales of old, and all the lore that has been passed down through generations. Another part of my family come from Donegal in Ireland. This year for many reasons is a time of new begninngs for me (I'm getting married this year for one  ) and so beginning my journey along OBOD's Bardic path could not have come at a better time. Really happy to be here in the Druid's Head pub!

Hi, my name is Leonette, and I live in Yorkshire. :yay:
I have been drawn towards Druidry for a long time and have just come to the end of the Bardic grade. When I started the course last year I realised I had found what I had been looking for all this time. I had 'come home'. I am so much looking forward to continuing to learn, especially the herb and tree lore. I am particularly interested in herbs as I grow and use them both for culinary and medicinal purposes.
:hiya:
Yours in the peace of the grove

Re: INTRoDucTIONS: How old are you and where do you live...?

Postby Nemoryn » 23 Feb 2013, 22:23

Well, what to say to start?
At first: I am the new one and my name is Nemoryn.
On my long way, I came across the OBOD last summer.
I am a christian (catholic theologican to be more precise) and I estimate my tradition - but I don't find in it at all eyerything I need.
Since my childhood I have experiences which the folk in my surrounding don't share. For a long time, that was a heavy burden for me. But since about two years I know that this is not that extraordinary and that this phenomenon has a name - but in Germany it's almost unfamliar. In English the term is "high sensitive person" and it's not about a hypochondriac or so, but with sensing more than the others in the surrounding (concerning one ore more senses) - and I sense a lot what psychologists would label extrasensory perception: Mainly I perceive energies, for example if I can cross the street without looking for the cars. But I perceive the energies of trees and other plants, of animals and humans in my sourrounding, too. From time to time appear decents, and angels and power animals (the most uncommon and simultaneously strongest is one that I never could observe in the wild and that doesn't live at all in my perphery). Sometimes I have dreams and visions about the past and future, too.
The ESP-thing doesn't has a place in my tradition (although I think it should) and for a long time I was on the scout for the right place for it.
I'd say, druidry is a way which found me. My grandpa took me with him into the forest as soon as I could walk, and together with my grandma he teached me the love to the birds. She loved it to tell stories for me, and today I think she wanted to facilitate something to me through the choice of her stories which I understand only now step-by-step. I always loved nature, also through this mediation. It took a while till I found a form of nature-based spirituality which fits for me - I don't want to have to call gods which I don't know or to say any magic formulas to make it possible to belong to a community. It seems like it's with the OBOD possible to live both sides of my spirituality.

Re: INTRoDucTIONS: How old are you and where do you live...?

Postby Sankari » 26 Feb 2013, 00:52

Hello, Bonjour, Buenos dias,

My name is Sankari, I live in Lyon, France. I have always felt a strong connection with Celtic lands and the druidic figures of the Arthurian legends but, although they were beautiful stories feeding my soul, my spiritual practice for 30 years was deeply rooted in Hinduism and Indian spiritual teachers (Sankari is the name given to me by one of them). And then 4-5 years ago, druidism and wicca knocked my door again with such a strength that I went to Ireland, Scotland, England, Brittany each year. After reading a lot on internet and books, I finally found P.Carr-Gomm's teachings meeting my expectations and I started the Bardic grade in June 2012. One month later I went to Wiltshire's crop circles, Avebury, Glastonbury and Stonehenge. My spiritual life has moved from India to Europe, from East to West. I enjoy each step of this new journey and can't wait to see what is ahead!

ps: English is not my native language, as French and Spanish are. So do not hesitate to correct my mistakes.
