As soon as the Sun moves into Leo, on July 22, Moon enters the opposite sign, Aquarius. Sun and Moon create a gate into the Leo/Aquarius axis at 00 degrees. The two luminaries offer us a fresh start at the very moment of culmination in the Moon/Sun cycle! Leo is about the Sun’s full glory in the brightest and hottest days of summer while the full Moon in Aquarius balances that creative and fiery force with a deep concern for community and the social structures which support and yet limit our self expression.

The battle between the Oak King and the Holly King continues with this new cycle of the Moon.
Duir (Oak) is the Moon of the Summer Solstice, when the Sun at his height is wounded by the Holly King and begins his journey into the dark half of the year. He will meet his nemesis again at the time of the Winter Solstice and regain his crown.
There is a great water wheel in the sky at this moment. As it whirls, we experience the creativity, fertility and deep connection of the element water along with the release of long held tears.
Maybe, because this is the new Moon in Gemini, we are ‘seeing double.’ As well as the exact conjunction between the Moon and Sun which marks the moment of the new Moon, we also have Mars, god of war positioned at the same degree of Gemini with Pallas Athena, goddess of war. Let us hope this does not auger more war than already exists in the world.
The full Moon tonight will be a penumbral eclipse, but so slight as to be almost invisible. Perhaps this will have a homeopathic effect, that is, the less there is, the more powerful the outcome. Here is a tale of two new Moons. One took place April 10 and the other will occur on May 9th. In April we had a powerful lineup of planets in Aries, fiery, feisty, and full of explosive energy. The planet Mars, who ‘rules’ the sign of Aries was there close to the Sun and Moon as was Venus, also in Aries. Uranus the revolutionary, and messenger of shock and sudden change added his demand for immediate response. Spring came with greenery but with explosion and earthquake as well. Here in Boston the viewpoint shifted from concern over threats of war to an
The full Moon in Saille (Willow)will occur as a partial lunar eclipse. The Moon, darkened by the earth’s shadow will be visible in Europe Asia, Australia, Africa and Antarctica. But if you live here in North America you will only feel, not see the shadow. Yet everywhere, the same pattern of planets will occur at the same moment. Here on the east coast of the U.S. the full Moon will take place Thursday, April
