Full Moon of Muin by Sarah Fuhro

The full Moon of Muin (Grapevine) will be noticed whether or not the clouds
part on Saturday night!   She arrives in the close company of Uranus and the
asteroid Pallas Athena, full of excitement, full of wisdom.  All of this
takes place in the constellation Aries, fiery and aggressive.   Uranus is
always full of sudden surprises and electrical energy.  If you want to
dedicate a project this would be a moment when the vigor of wild horses is
available to carry it forward.
Of course, because she is full, the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun in
Libra who may add a little balance to this mix. Aries and Libra are both
signs of the equinox, yet the season of Libra is seen as a time of
harmonious and quiet steadiness as the astrological year deepens and
ages.  Aries is the spring equinox, full of the impulse to birth and the
demands of bursting buds and new life.
To make it all the more interesting, Pluto and Ceres in cardinal signs
create a grand square to the Sun Moon Uranus excitement.  Cardinal signs
are the moments of seasonal change, and carry the energy of
transformation and new beginnings. This full Moon is a pattern of the
whole year held in one moment.
The Uranus Pluto square is the big astrological event of this year and
will continue to shake us all up as these two outer planets make seven
exact 90° angles to one another into 2015.  Pluto says he will leave no
stone unturned to reveal the truth and to tear down what no longer
serves. Uranus has plans for new structures, which may look alien or
frightening to those who are dedicated to the way things were in some
mysterious better time frame.  When Uranus and Pluto were in conjunction
in the 60’s we saw much of this same energy at work. The period of
upheaval and transformation of society all over the world we call the
‘60’s’ actually took place after the two planets parted.  Pluto’s desire
to tear down and expose is often in conflict with the Uranic impulse
towards new structures.  For the next few years we will experience
exposure of any rotten understructure of our society or our personal
lives with Pluto in Capricorn. We may also receive a vision of new
structures from Uranus is Aries. Yet these impulses must be handled with
patience and care so that we don’t built over what must be uprooted, or
cancel out our vision because of the chaotic nature of what is all
around us.
Because the square between Pluto and Uranus takes place in cardinal
signs, it will leave us personally and as a species, with a new season
to explore when it has passed.  In the mean time we may want to take
advantage of this tremendous pressure to change our ways of relating to
each other and ourselves in economic and government institutions.
Capricorn relates to the institutional structures of our lives, Aries to
our inner revolution.
Ceres, Mother Earth, is the fourth corner of the grand square in this
chart. Over the last several Moons we have felt the impetus of her
energy to finally discuss our relationship to the earth and to our
impact upon her.  Ceres is in the Moon’s sign of Cancer and, which  may
reawaken a the knowledge that we are part of the planet we call home.
We are beginning to acknowledge that we are simply a part of creation,
not the supreme end point and master.  As the earth dries and floods,
shakes and heats up, we can no longer feel ourselves separate from our
actions.  Pluto in Capricorn makes it very clear that the hand of
corporations is everywhere threatening our existence.
The close square between Venus and Mars  is another theme with this
moment of the full Moon. This was true in several other Moon charts
earlier in the year.   Male and female tension is high.  Venus in Leo is
eager to show herself, to express what gifts she has to offer and to
shine like the Sun. Mars in Scorpio feels self protective, secretive and
reactive rather than creative.   Yet both are learning about themselves
through elements of the opposite sex.  The north and south Nodes of the
Moon are involved in this square between Venus and Mars.  Mars is
conjunct the north Node of evolutionary impulse and Venus is square both
nodes suggesting a powerful push to harmonize opposite signs.
Saturn will enter the sign of Scorpio, October 5th, after a three year
journey through Libra where he is exalted and acts as judge and jury.
Saturn in Scorpio will be looking deeply at trauma and gives us the
opportunity to heal old wounds, we may have avoided.  However, we must
not rush him towards his next sign, for during this full Moon he is
still in Libra with a trine relationship to the asteroid Vesta.  She
represents our urge to focus on the service we hope to offer others, how
we want to invest our love and our time.   Saturn and Vesta in cahoots
can help us find a way to serve others, whether on the personal level or
in the larger society.   Mercury fits in there as well, conjunct Saturn
and also in trine to Vesta, ready to communicate new ways people find to
relate to their community, their family, or the world at large.
Venus is in the middle of all of this because she is in sextile (60°) to
Vesta and Saturn and Mercury and is the ruler of the sign of Libra where
they presently dwell.  Venus reminds us that those who create beauty,
also create new consciousness and connect us to a sense of wonder which
opens awareness of our higher self.
Muin is the Moon of harvest and of the grape, where the sun’s strength
through long summer days is stored. The wine made from these grapes must
go through a transformational process, as we must also if we are to
evolve into a sustainable species.  We have just passed through the
moment of perfect balance between dark and light and, in this
hemisphere, we now move towards greater darkness.
